Toensing, and Biographical Sketches of the Officers of the State Government of Minnesota and the 19th Minnesota State Legislature by C.L. Hall, 1877 list his last name as Frederick. The Minnesota Legislative Manuals, 1876 and 1877 list both Frederick and Fredericks.

He came to St. Paul, Minnesota in October 1867. He moved to Stillwater, Minnesota around 1869.

Biographical Sketches of the Officers of the State Government of Minnesota and the 19th Minnesota State Legislature by C.L. Hall, 1877 mentions "his Democratic friends."
