He moved to Ripon, Fondulac County, Wisconsin in 1853. He moved to Illinois around 1855. He came to Minnesota in 1857 and settled in Rochester, Olmsted County. He went west in search of gold in 1860. He returned to Minnesota in 1862. After the United States Civil War he settled in Austin, Minnesota.
