Function: Enforce provisions of the campaign finance and ethics law.
The commission shall report at the close of each fiscal year to the legislature, the governor and the public concerning the action it has taken, the names, salaries, and duties of all individuals in its employ and the money it has disbursed. The commission shall include and identify in its report any other reports it has made during the fiscal year.
History:
The State Ethics Commission was created in 1974 to administer the Ethics in Government Act which relates to certain elected and appointed officials in the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of government (1974 Minn. Laws Chap. 470). The name was changed to the Ethical Practices Board in 1975 Minn. Laws Chap. 271.
Membership:
Six members: The members shall be appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of three-fifths of both the senate and the house of representatives acting separately.
