Judicial Merit Advisory Commission

Function:

Seek, evaluate, and recommend to the governor outstanding persons who are learned in the law to fill vacancies that may occur on the trial courts of Minnesota.

Membership:

As of 1989, the commission consisted of: up to 15 members including one members appointed by the governor from each of 10 judicial districts; three to four members-at-large, appointed by governor. The chair was appointed by the governor.

Membership in the Judicial Merit Selection Commission changed over time; see Gov. Perpich's executive orders, linked above, for more details.
