Minnesota Foundation for Student Organizations

Function: Promote vocational student organizations and applied leadership opportunities in Minnesota public and nonpublic schools through public-private partnerships.
Active dates:1996-
History: The MFSO was created in 1996 by the Minnesota State Legislature to bridge the public and private funding of Career and Technical Student Organizations.

1997 Minn. Laws mandate expands the scope of the Minnesota School-to-Work Student Organization Foundation to include nonpublic schools. 1999 Minn. Laws Chap. 241 Art. 3 Sec. 4 Changed name from Minnesota School-to-Work Student Organization Foundation to Minnesota Foundation for Student Organizations.
Membership: The foundation consists of 23 voting members. Seven members appointed by the board of directors of the school-to-work student organizations; seven members from business, industry and labor and four members from education, appointed by the governor, and five students or alumni of school-to-work student organizations.
