    Function:

    Examines, licenses and regulates certified public accountants and licensed public accountants.

    History:

    The board was first established in 1909. At that time it consisted of three citizens of the state appointed by the governor. Board membership numbers changed over the years, and by 2002 it consisted of nine citizens.
    Membership:

    Membership consists of nine citizens of this state appointed by the governor. Two must be public members as defined by section 214.02, and seven must be certified public accountants.
