Function:

Nonprofit public corporation works with Minnesota companies to assist them in using modern techniques and technologies to compete more effectively in the global marketplace.

History:

In 2003 the legislature and Governor Tim Pawlenty decided to privatize the agency. In his budget plan that year, Gov. Pawlenty had proposed eliminating the agency's state funding. Instead, the legislature provided $3 million for the 2004-05 biennium, with the stipulation the organization use the money to evolve into a private entity.

Board of directors has 14 members; 4-year terms. (1993)
