Function:

Advise concerning guidelines that the legislature may use in allocating grant or loan money for scientifically and technologically related projects; advise on decentralized research peer review process; approve assignment of ad hoc committees on science and technology research and development.

History:

The committee was abolished by 1991 legislation. Responsibilities were transferred to the Board of Directors of Minnesota Technology, Inc. (Source: Annual compilation and statistical report: membership on state councils, boards and commissions, 1991.)

13 members (4 legislators, chair appointed by governor to 4-year terms, 8 members appointed by governor to 6-year terms must be qualified in at least one of five specified areas); expenses reimbursed under Minn. Stat. 15.059.
