Small Business Development Center Advisory Board

Function: Advise, counsel, and confer with the director of the Small Business Development Center Network on all policy matters pertaining to the operation of the network, to include advice and counsel on needs assessments, program offerings, and program evaluations. Also advises and assists in leveraging of local financial and other resources to support the statewide Small Business Development Center network and regional SBDC centers in Minnesota.
History: The board is mandated by 15 U.S.C. 648 (j)(1) as condition of receiving federal funds to operate the Small Business Development Center Program authorized by 15 U.S.C.648.
Membership: 11 members (composed primarily of small business owners and representatives of small business associations; including 1 member from each of the 8 regions served by the outstate regional centers, 2 representatives from the metropolitan areas, and 1 at-large member); appointed by commissioner of trade and economic development; no compensation.
The total number of members varies.
