Drug Abuse Resistance Education Advisory Council

Function: Advise Bureau of Criminal Apprehension in establishing and promoting drug resistance education programs.
History: The D.A.R.E. Advisory Board was created in 1989 by the Attorney General. Legislation in 1990 created the DARE Advisory Council, which succeedded the board (essentially the same membership).

The 2005-2008 Annual Compilation and Statistical Reports of Multi-Member Agencies for DARE were filed with the MN Secretary of State under the name "Advisory Council on Drug Abuse Resistance Education". There were no members listed on the 2008 report.
Membership: 17 members: Attorney General as chair, commissioners of Public Safety and Education, three representatives of law enforcement appointed by the Commissioner of Public Safety, three representatives of education appointed by Commissioner of Education, seven citizens appointed by the Attorney General, one representative of DARE Officers Association appointed by the POST Board.
