TAC

Function: The Northeast Minnesota Economic Development Fund Technical Advisory Committee evaluates project proposals for expenditure of money appropriated under Minn. Stat. 298.2213 and makes recommendations to the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board.
History: The Northeast Minnesota Economic Development Fund Technical Advisory Committee was reviewed by the Legislative Commission on Planning and Fiscal Policy (LCPFP) in 2013 as part of their biennial duty required by Minn. Stat. 3.885 Subd. 11. The LCPFP's 2013 Recommendations called for keeping the committee, but advised the IRRRB to consider whether it would recommend statutory changes to combine this committee with the Douglas J. Johnson Economic Protection Trust Fund Technical Advisory Committee, since they currently meet as one group.
Membership: Seven persons who are knowledgeable in areas related to the objectives of the proposal. If the project involves investment in a scientific research proposal, at least four of the committee members must be knowledgeable in the specific scientific research area relating to the project. Members are appointed before submission to the board of a proposal for a project for expenditure of money appropriated under Minn. Stat. 298.2213.
Agency heads: Commissioner of Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation
