Services to Persons with Developmental or Physical Disabilities Task Force
Function: The task force shall advise the commissioner relative to those laws which the commissioner is responsible to administer and enforce relating to developmental disabilities and physical disabilities. The commissioner also may request the task force for advice on implementing a comprehensive plan of services necessary to provide for the transition of persons with developmental disabilities from regional treatment centers services to community-based programs.

The task force shall consist of persons who are providers or consumers of service for persons with developmental disabilities or physical disabilities, or who are interested citizens. Original law stated 11 members; specific membership requirement removed in 1983.
The statutory description of the task force name has changed over the years:
1976: "The Commissioner of Public Welfare shall appoint an advisory council of 11 members to be known as the advisory council for the mentally retarded and physically handicapped."
1985: "The commissioner of human services may appoint an advisory task force for persons with mental retardation, related conditions, or physical handicaps."
2005: "The commissioner of human services may appoint an advisory task force for services to persons with developmental disabilities or physical disabilities."
