Senate Select Committee on Disparities and Opportunities

Function:

Senate bipartisan select committee to make policy recommendations for closing the state's racial gaps. The committee will examine the causes and effects of racial disparities in Minnesota in employment, education, health and other areas.

History:

First meeting was on April 28, 2014.

The committee's charge is to bring a plan of action to the 2015 Legislature. The focus for 2015 plan will be jobs and economic development.

9 Senate Democratic-Farmer-Labor members, 4 Senate Republican members; Sen. Branden Petersen, Sen. Chris Eaton, Sen. Dave Thompson, Sen. David Tomassoni, Sen. Foung Hawj, Sen. Karin Housley, Sen. Melisa Franzen, Sen. Patricia Torres Ray, Sen. Paul Gazelka, Sen. Rod Skoe, and Sen. Tony Lourey
