Employment Services Department

Active dates:1974 - 1977
Function: Administered both the Minnesota State Employment Service and the Unemployment Insurance program. In addition, the department was engaged in more than 50 Federal-State programs created by Presidential ad/or Congressional action.
History: The department was previously known as Manpower Services. The name was changed to the Department of Employment Services effective January 1, 1974. As part of a 1977 reorganization of state jobs programs, the department was combined with the Governor's Manpower Office and Division of Vocational Rehabilitation to become the new Department of Economic Security.
