General Crime Victims Advisory Council
Active dates:1991 - June 30, 2003
Function: Advises the Minnesota commissioner of corrections on all planning, development, data collection, rulemaking, funding, and evaluation of programs and services to victims of general crime (other than matters of a purely administrative nature).
The General Crime Victims Advisory Council shall also serve as a liaison between the commissioner and organizations that provide services to victims of crime, and as an advocate within the Department of Corrections for the rights of general crime victims.
The Council expires on June 30, 2003.
12 members (no more than 6 members shall be representative of community or governmental organization that provide services to victims of crime other than sexual assault and domestic violence; 1/2 of the members shall be from the metropolitan area, 1/2 from non-metropolitan regions of the state); appointed by commissioner of corrections; 2-year terms; expenses.
On or before August 1, 1992, the general crime victims advisory council, in consultation with the commissioner, shall file a written report with the legislature.
