Executive Branch Reorganization Orders

Compiled by the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library

The Commissioner of the Department of Administration, under the authority of Minnesota Statutes 16B.37, is authorized to transfer personnel, powers, or duties from a state agency to another state agency. Details on reorganization authority are outlined in a House Research Department Information Brief, "Executive Branch Transfer Authority."

Agency names change over time. The drop-down list includes names at the time the order was published. For example, some orders may refer to a department as "Education;" other orders will use "Children, Families, and Learning."

We extracted the full text from the scanned Reorganization Orders. However, the optical character recognition (OCR) software didn't work well on many of the documents, due to poor print resolution and typewriter fonts. Full text searching is limited.
