GOVERNOR PAWLENTY ORDERS U.S. AND STATE FLAGS AT HALF-STAFF IN HONOR OF STAFF SERGEANT KEVIN M. WITTE - October 31, 2006
Governor Tim Pawlenty today ordered that the United States flag and the State of Minnesota flag be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol from sunrise until sunset on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, in honor and remembrance of Staff Sergeant Kevin M. Witte who died a hero while protecting his country and fighting for freedom on Friday, October 20, 2006, in Iraq.

Governor Tim Pawlenty today announced his citizen member nominees to the newly formed Conservation Legacy Council (CLC). The CLC will provide advice and recommendations to the Governor on how the state can better govern and fund conservation, protection and enhancement of the state?s natural resources.

GOVERNOR PAWLENTY ANNOUNCES $69 MILLION FEDERAL GRANT FOR LOW INCOME HEATING ASSISTANCE -- October 27, 2006
Governor Tim Pawlenty announced today that Minnesota is receiving $69.7 million in federal funds to help low-income families in the state pay their heating bills this winter. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds are released now to ensure states have the resources available to support their energy assistance programs as the weather turns colder.

GOVERNOR PAWLENTY SECURES AGRICULTURAL DISASTER DECLARATION FOR ADDITIONAL DROUGHT AFFECTED COUNTIES -- October 19, 2006
Governor Pawlenty has received notice that U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns has granted the Governor's request to add Douglas, Otter Tail and Swift Counties to the previously declared federal agriculture disaster area. As a result of the latest declaration, farmers and ranchers affected by the drought will be able to receive low-interest loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

MINNETONKA SCHOOL DISTRICT TO IMPLEMENT PERFORMANCE PAY FOR TEACHERS -- October 11, 2006
Governor Tim Pawlenty announced today that the Minnetonka Public School District will implement Minnesota's nation-leading Q Comp performance and professional pay program. Minnetonka will be the 27th school district in the state to participate and will receive $2 million in state aid and local revenues for implementation in the 2006-07 school year.
