GOVERNOR PAWLENTY AND MAYOR RYBAK ANNOUNCE DETAILS OF SUNDAY'S INTERFAITH PRAYER SERVICE -- August 4, 2007

~ Public invited and encouraged to attend ~

Minneapolis-St. Paul - Governor Tim Pawlenty and Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak today announced details about Sunday's Interfaith Prayer Service and invited all Minnesotans to attend the service to remember and honor the victims, families and first responders of the 35W bridge tragedy.

The service will be held at 7:00 p.m., tomorrow, Sunday, August 5 at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral in Minneapolis.

A number of songs and prayers will be interspersed throughout the service, which will last approximately 45 minutes.

Following the initial procession and invocation, brief reflections will be offered by Governor Pawlenty and Mayor Rybak. Scriptural readings will take place from the Prophets, New Testament, and Qur’an. Additional reflections will be offered by the Reverend Peg Chamberlin, Executive Director of the Minnesota Council of Churches.

Money collected during the offering will be distributed by the Minneapolis Foundation to the victims and their families.

Providing the music for the service will be members of the Minnesota Orchestra, African American Ensemble Choir, St. Mark’s Cathedral organist Raymond Johnson, and two prominent local singer-songwriters, Ann Reed and Dan Chouinard.

For members of the media, due to the older model of soundboard used at St. Mark’s, use of a mult-box for audio feeds will not likely be possible. It is suggested you bring wireless mics to pick up the audio emanating from the Cathedral’s significant speaker system.

WHAT: Interfaith Prayer Service for members of the public, first responders, and the families and victims of the I-35W bridge tragedy.

WHEN: Sunday, August 5, 7:00 p.m.

WHERE: St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral, 519 Oak Grove Street, Minneapolis
