OFFICE OF HIGHER EDUCATION DIRECTOR SUSAN HEEGAARD LEAVING STATE SERVICE -- January 22, 2009
Governor Tim Pawlenty announced today that Susan Heegaard, Director of the Minnesota Office of Higher Education, is leaving her post on February 5, 2009 to join the Bush Foundation, a St. Paul-based foundation, as Vice President and team leader for educational achievement, one of its three core initiatives.

GOVERNOR PAWLENTY SECURES FEDERAL AGRICULTURE DISASTER DESIGNATION FOR WILKIN, CLAY, GRANT, OTTER TAIL, TRAVERSE COUNTIES -- January 16, 2009
Governor Tim Pawlenty announced today that Wilkin, Clay, Grant, Otter Tail, and Traverse counties have been designated agricultural disaster areas by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Edward Schafer. The designation makes farm operators in each county eligible for low-interest emergency loans from the federal Farm Service Agency (FSA).

Citing a unique opportunity for reform in the face of difficult economic circumstances, Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty and Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle today announced a nation-leading effort to identify potential shared services between their states. At ceremonies in St. Paul and Madison today, Governors Pawlenty and Doyle signed Executive Orders directing state agency commissioners and secretaries to identify possible cooperative service agreements between Minnesota and Wisconsin's state agencies.

GOVERNOR PAWLENTY, LEGISLATORS INTRODUCE SHARED SERVICES PROPOSAL TO REDUCE COSTS FOR SCHOOLS -- January 7, 2009
Governor Tim Pawlenty and key legislators today announced a bipartisan proposal that will require Minnesota school districts and charter schools to combine efforts to reduce costs. The proposal will compel schools to pool limited resources in order to deliver more cost-effective services, redirect administrative costs, and reduce duplication.
