Fire Protection Advisory Council

Active dates:1992 - 2014
Function: Advises the Commissioner of Public Safety on matters within the council's expertise or under the regulation of the Commissioner.
History: Name changed from Advisory Council on Fire Protection Systems (1998 Minn. Laws Chap. 367 Art. 11. Sec. 5). The 1998 law also removed the Commissioner of Labor and Industry (or designee) as a member of the Council.

The LCPFP's 2013 Recommendations called for the council to be repealed and 2014 Minn. Laws Chap. 286 Art. 6 Sec. 9 contained the repeal.
Membership: As of 2012, nine members. The Commissioner of Public Safety or desginee; two licensed fire protection contractors or fulltime managing employees; two journeymen sprinkler fitters; one State Fire Chief's Association member; one Fire Marshall Association of MN member; one certified building official; and one general public member.
