In 2017, the Minnesota Legislative Reference Library received an appropriation to digitize more than 29,000 tapes of legislative proceedings from 1991 to 2003. In 2010, through a grant from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, nearly 800 Senate audio cassettes from 2004 were digitized to correspond with the already digital 2004 House audio.
Both digitization projects and the resulting database enhances the existing collection of digital files, making these valuable primary records of the Legislature accessible to anyone at any time and preserving them into the future.
